French Press

French Press
The French Press is a high-pressure cell disruption device commonly used in molecular biology and biochemistry laboratories to lyse cells and release intracellular contents. It operates by applying pressures up to 40,000psi to force cell suspensions through a narrow valve, causing cell walls and membranes to rupture due to shear forces and sudden decompression. This method is particularly effective for disrupting tough cell types, such as bacteria and yeast, while preserving the integrity of subcellular components like organelles and protein complexes.
This instrument is first come, first served.
