The BIF requires BruinCard access for entry. To request access, email Dr. Martin Phillips at mlphill@ucla.edu or visit hisoffice in Young Hall 5064 to speak with him in person.

Users must complete mandatory training conducted by BIF personnel before independently using any instrument. To schedule a training, contact Dr. Martin Phillips at mlphill@ucla.edu, visit his office in Young Hall 5064, or check our website and slack for announcements.

Yes, all instruments must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance through the Reservations tab on the BIF website.

The BIF is located in Young Hall 5060 and 5048.

The BIF is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for authorized users. However, staff assistance is only available during normal business hours. Users accessing the facility outside these hours must operate independently and adhere to all facility guidelines.
